Overture:

The second landlocked country other than Bolivia, Paraguay is a country that lies at the center of South America. The country is officially called the Republic of Paraguay or Republica del Paraguay(in Spanish) and usually referred to as the “Heart of South America.” Although it is a landlocked country, It has beautiful coasts, amazing beaches; all because of the Paraguay and Parana rivers.

Moreover, you will be amazed to know that this country has been listed in the world’s happiest places quite a few times. The people in this country are lively and chirpy which means that they create a happy experience for everyone living there and new visitors too. Paraguay may not be explored much, but the place has a lot to offer when it comes to travel, adventure, and fun. This country is leaner towards the cultural and historical aspect as people here hold pride to be tied down to traditions and they appreciate their culture.

CULTURE AND HERITAGE

Paraguay is a country with an intense history and rich culture & traditions. The dominance of the Guarani people is often noticed in every aspect. However, the fusion of European and Guarani culture is yet experienced. The musical rhythms of this place are Polka and Guarania. The people exhibit their artistry by weaving and doing fine precious metalwork. In addition to this, feather-work art is also worth appreciation. Finally, the celebrations at this wonderful spot are amusing and entertaining.

The largest carnival is the Carnival in Encarnacion which is popularly known as ‘The Pearl of the South.’ Along with this, there are several festivals celebrated throughout the year. Above all, the crazy motorsport competition of the Trans-Chaco Rally will give you an adrenaline rush.

CUISINE

The Spanish cuisine of Paraguay has a slight Guarani influence which makes it very delicious and unique. The traditional dishes are mostly barbequed and have amazing flavor. While most of the dishes include meat, veggies, and corn, you can enjoy the delightful desserts, fresh seafood, and local cheese dishes. You will be surprised to discover these mouth-watering South American flavors.

Chipa is one of the traditional dishes which is basically a bread roll served with eggs and cheese. Dumplings are eaten more often here. Actually, Bori Bori, a bowl of fresh chicken soup, made from fowl, bacon fat, veggies, and rich tomatoes is served with cheesy dumplings. Apart from this, fruit juices and soft drinks are very common. Terere is called the national drink of Paraguay.

Paraguay is a place full of natural wonder, beautiful creatures, delicious food, historic events, and heart-warming people. The seasons are pleasant here and this country is a booming destination.
