Culture And Heritage:

The ethnicity of Eswatini is quite homogeneous and consists of the Swazi group(or the Bantu group of South Africa). These people actively involve in the performance of art to dignify their traditions and historic culture. They celebrate two major festivals and many other cultural events take place throughout the year. Firstly, the cultural event in December, Incwala(first-fruit ceremony) is a series of rituals which commemorates the kingship and nation’s relations. Secondly, there is a fest especially for women, Umhlanga or the Reed Dance, where all the maidens cut reeds for the annual repair to the windbreaks of the Queen mother’s village.

You should definitely visit Eswatini during its festive season. Everything is very charming and colorful. You can enjoy the daylight ceremony and then when the sun sets, there is a wonderful nightlife to relish.

Cuisine:

The Portuguese influence from nearby Mozambique and the changing seasons determine the cuisine of Eswatini. The goat meat is very common and you can also enjoy the flavorful seafood here. Moreover, the local markets have food stalls that serve the traditional Swazi meat stew with maize and roasted corn. Emasi(sour milk) is one of the delicacies of Eswatini. If you are into tangy flavors then try Umncweba and Umkhunsu. They are the dried meat(the former being uncooked and later is cooked) marinated in vinegar and spices. However, grilled corn on the cob is another popular dish of Eswatini. The foods here are cooked traditionally and always have that classic Swazi taste and aroma which will delight your taste buds for sure.
