Greece, officially known as the Hellenic Republic, is a Mediterranean country in the southeastern part of Europe. It is completely surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea has one of the longest coastlines in Europe. Which makes it obvious that Greece is a place for beach babies. One thing Greece is well known for is its ancient mythology. Mount Olympus which is the highest peak is considered to be the abode of the Greek Gods who make up the Twelve Olympians.

Mythology:

Greece is renowned for the ancient Greek religion where they worship numerous Gods. Many of us might have heard about ‘ZEUS’ – The King of all Greek Gods. Greeks mainly worship their principal God – ‘Dodekatheon’ and the Twelve Olympians namely – Ares, Poseidon, Athena, Demeter, Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and Hermes. Greeks have also known for their mystical beliefs like magical creatures of which Medusa the witch is very famous.

Culture and Heritage:

It is one of the most culturally renowned places in Europe. The ancient ruins of the temples, the deities, Mount Olympus gives us a glimpse into Greece’s cultural heritage. Besides the fact that Greek people are highly religious, they embrace the culture of Western civilization as well. Greece is considered to be the birthplace of many modern principles such as democracy, philosophy, literature, historiography, drama, and many more.

Tourists especially visit this gorgeous destination to visualize this mixed tape of western and ancient Greek culture. Tourism contributes to almost 20% of Greece’s GDP. The Northern region or the Mountainous trail is the most visited part of Greece. The city of Thessaloniki is ranked as the ‘World’s 5th best Party Town’.

Apart from the tourism part, Greek people are also very famous for their food. It is a blend of Roman and Middle Eastern culture in their cuisine. Where some people enjoy meat with some Greek salad as sides, others enjoy sipping Greek wine along with Pastitsada and Kebabs. Greek is one of the oldest wine-producing territories in the world.

You can hike up to a hilltop to watch the 5 B.C. ancient ‘Acropolis of Athens’, or take a walk in Elafonisi – the isle of pink sand beach. You can worship the Olympians and the Greek Gods while planning a trip to Mount Olympus or wander around in search of the mysterious Melissani Cave and scratch off that cliff jumping off your bucket list. There is always something interesting and adventurous while on a trip to Greece.
