The Maldives, known as the Republic of Maldives is a small island in the Arabian Sea in the south of Asia. The Maldives is a preferred travel destination for the people who are looking for an island retreat. To escape the hustle and bustle of the regular city life. This beautiful south Asian country is made up of 26 atolls that stretch out over a distance of 115 square miles. It is the smallest country in Asia with respect to the landmass and population. Male, the capital of Maldives is called the king’s island because of its central location.
LUCKY DIP:
The Maldives is made up of 1190 islands. It might sound a little wild, but that’s the truth. But unfortunately, only 200 of those are humanly civilized. However, the fact that every single luxury resort that’s available in the Maldives is actually situated on its own island. It is pretty cool, isn’t it?
The Maldives is rich in exotic sea life. Visitors can find tons of beautiful corals lying on the sea bed while scuba diving in the Indian ocean. Between the second and the fourth quarter of the year your chances of witnessing wild rays, whales, and sharks are very high. Many boating trips allow the travelers to take a closer look at these seals.
The Maldives has great weather all year round. You will encounter a bit of rainfall here and there, but not enough to dampen your travel experience and expectations. Most of the time you will be left with bright blue skies and sunshine which will keep you in a mood for exploration and adventure.
Local transportation is either by sea, plane, or ferry. If you choose to go by ferry you can pay a little low comparatively. Well, the ferries are not particularly comfortable. The experience of meeting new and interesting people as well as the wildlife you get to see as the dolphins, whales, and sharks can also be pretty fun. Travelers can also visit other islands of the country through ferries and save loads of money.
Resorts here are super cooperative. If you wish to switch resorts you can contact the crew of your existing resort and ask them to change your stay. They even help you make bookings and change reservations to new resorts allowing the travelers to explore more and more islands of this beautiful country.
Culture and Cuisine:
The Maldives is a Muslim country. Almost 90% of the population in the Maldives is Muslim. That bounds some restrictions to the travelers. Some private islands and places restrict travelers to cover their knees and shoulder with their clothing. That means no inappropriate attire. Also, alcoholism is prohibited in various public places. Travelers cannot bring alcoholic beverages in or out of the country.
But you do not need to worry about that if you crave a shot of whiskey. Resorts in the Maldives offer exotic drinks and beverages at a very affordable price. So you can surely enjoy your dinner sided with a glass of wine.
The food of Maldivians is much similar to that of Sri-lanka. Though the resorts serve almost every type of Asian cuisine like Thai cuisine, Indian cuisine, Sri-Lankan cuisine, Vietnamese cuisine, and so on. I would highly recommend you try the rice with roshi along with some smoked fish.
Seafood is consumed in abundance here. The most typical dish is the Guardia which is prepared using dry and smoked fish. Some of the chefs in the resorts are renowned for their seafood preparation worldwide. King prawns, lobsters, crabs, and smoked fish are some foods that every traveler should try out.
What’s the weather like? If the weather is not bright and sunny where you are. Want to escape to an exotic island to enjoy the warmth and spectacular beauty of nature. Let’s go on a trip to a beautiful and naturally doubt place. Where dark clouds are replaced with sunshine and sadness by smiles. Welcome to the Maldives!
