The corals are living creatures and are home to thousands of fish species including a variety of whales, dolphins, snakes, sea turtles, and squids. They live in warm waters and only reproduce one every year. Looking at the size of the barrier reef it is obvious that they grow between 1 and 25 centimeters each year.

Almost 10% of all the fish species that exist in the world are found in the Great Barrier Reef itself. Isn’t it bananas? Ecological expeditions and researches have led to the discovery that the corals can be over a million years old. And some of the fish species can be traced back from the prehistoric era.
