Spring is here and so is the lush green weather all over the country. And what better time to go for an outing than this beautiful time of the year? And that too for free!

Spring is the time that pulls people out for going on a hike and do some camping for a couple of days. But almost 80% of the average population of working Americans are only free on the weekends. On top of that, most of the places have a price surge going on the weekends.

Out of the 419 national parks throughout the country 108 of them charge, a regular entrance fee. But not this weekend. It is National Park Week starting from the 17th of April and most of the national parks you have been dreaming to visit can now be open for you and that too for no price at all. Park entrance fees are waived off this Saturday, since it is the first day of the National Park week, on the places or sites that usually charge some fees.

But do note that you still have to pay to camp, park, in-park transportation, and other activities you wish to do inside of the park.

The Events During National Park Week:

The week starts on the 17th and it lasts until the 25th of April. It is going to be a fun week indeed, That is to say as the parks throughout the country have planned a variety of programs like special events, digital experiences, and some fun activities as well. The most famous American parks like Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon in Arizona, Zion in Utah, Olympic in Washington, Acadia in Maine, and many more.

  • January 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 17: First day of National Park Week
  • August 4: First anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
  • August 25: National Park Service Birthday
  • September 25: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11: Veterans Day

Stay Cautious While Visiting National Parks:

Some precautionary measures are always recommended, like the National Park Services (NPS) requires all the visitors to wear a mask in regards to the executive order released by President Joe Biden mandating masks in federal buildings and on federal lands that include national park sites that are under the supervision of the Department of Interior.

Though there are only a few of them that cost you fee year-round, those are the ones that are truly are more beautiful and have a lot going on around. So, why miss that opportunity to wander around.

Looking at the other days of the year, some of these National Parks offer good promotions. There are discounted rates for senior citizens, students, current members of the military, disabled citizens, and also for parents for students below and up to the fourth grade.

National Parks are counted as one of the best American ideas. There are a ton of parks where anyone can visit every day. The fee-free days provide a great opportunity to escape your work desk and explore these wonderlands. On top of that a great opportunity to visit a new place that usually you did not visit because of the high prices.
