Jammu is the winter capital and the majority of the population is of ‘the Hindus’- considering the religious aspects.

Secondly, Kashmir – the northwestern region is the most populated area followed by Jammu and Ladakh. Kashmir comprises of 97% of the Muslim population. And the third territory is the region of Ladakh. Ladakh is basically a Buddhist civilization. The entire region is slightly tilted towards the Tibetan culture and tradition. The Jawahar Tunnel

The Jawahar Tunnel is a roadway tunnel that starts from the town of Banihal and takes you deep into the heart of Kashmir. This 1.77-mile-long tunnel was opened up in 1956 in a dream to establish easy and year-round road transport from Kashmir Valley. Certainly, the tunnel is named after the first prime minister of India – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The tunnel is high up on the hilltop and is surrounded by lush greenery in summers. However, in winter the entry point from the Banihal is okayish, but once you exit the tunnel it seems as if nature has pulled over a white blanket. That is to say, almost 95% of the land is covered in snow all winter. Snow so thick you’ll need to dig a few feet underneath to actually touch the ground.

..and more about Kashmir !

There is a duality in the capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir, where Srinagar in Kashmir is the summer capital of the state. There are some unique food cuisines to enjoy in Kashmir out of which Kazwaan and Sheer Chai are something unique. The Sheer chai is basically pink in color and has a unique salty taste. In other words, Sheer chai is also known as the Gulabi beverage of the Kashmiris.

In earlier sentences, we spoke about some spiritual sights in Kashmir. Each and every shrine in Kashmir is not only divine but the best combination of a spiritual and psychological boon. It is soothing to both mind and body. Vaishno Devi and Baba Amarnath are some of the most famous ones. Similarly, Martand Sun Temple that is located in the Anantnag region is one of the oldest archeological sites which dates back to the 8th century C.E. The magnificent temple is situated on the top of the mountain and is circumference with a view of the entire Kashmir Valley. That is to say, the combination of history, spiritual, physiological, and psychological gains can be sensed just perfectly here.

Every other beauty just vanishes or feels less when you once see how beautiful Kashmir is. The valley, the mountains, and the rivers – everything about the stunning land continues to elevate its beauty at all the junctions throwing new surprises. Remember that verse from the song ‘Hotel California by Eagles’? “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave”. Kashmir is just the same.
